I am so excited for this special Fabulous Over Fireside Chat with Alfred Edmond Jr., SVP/Executive Editor of Black Enterprise Magazine.
Alfred is responsible for providing strategic leadership in brand, marketing, and content, as well as spearheading the development of new virtual and live event franchises. Alfred is also one of the legendary leaders I previously featured in the Fabulous Over Spotlight Series on LinkedIn.
During this very special conversation, Alfred and I discussed the roots of his journalism and editorial career, leading to his current role as not only one of Black Enterprise’s top executives—but also a timeless titan in media, entrepreneurship, and black excellence.

About Alfred Edmond Jr.
Alfred’s three decade journey at Black Enterprise (BE) is marked by several key positions and tentpole moments.
Before his current role, Alfred was SVP/Chief Content Officer, responsible for overseeing all the media platforms of Black Enterprise across events, video, digital/website, social media, print and other content distribution properties.
Notably, from 2008 to 2010, Alfred was instrumental in the brand’s transition from a print-focused publisher to a digital-first media entity, serving as the company’s first Editor-in-Chief of BlackEnteprise.com.
Before this, he served as the Chief Editor of Black Enterprise print magazine from 1995 to 2008, guiding the publication through numerous successful editions.
In addition to his editorial leadership, Alfred currently serves as a writer, co-producer, and host of BE’s acclaimed interview series, “Beyond The Hype” and “Your Money, Your Life.”
Alfred passionately believes that age has no limits.
Especially as it relates to professional, financial, and physical fitness — which he considers foundational to his success.
For example, Alfred embraced natural bodybuilding in his late 50s, earning his OCB Masters Bodybuilding 40+ Pro Card in 2019 and competing in the DFAC World Finals.
He was also a member of Team USA at the 2017 and 2018 DFAC World Finals in the amateur bodybuilders 50-plus Masters class.
And now at the age of 63, Alfred is actively training for natural bodybuilding competitions for 2024.
A proud Rutgers University alumnus, Alfred is a life member of the Rutgers Alumni Association and the Rutgers African American Alumni Alliance. He has also been inducted into the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni (2010) and the RAAA Hall of Fame (2005).
Alfred’s remarkable story is a powerful reminder that aging is not merely about getting older…
It’s about embracing the journey of continual transformation, growth, and mastery.
And Alfred continues to be on a mission to transform for the greater good throughout his fabulous 60s — and beyond.
t will shine brightly for many years to come.
